The Conservatory Space and Equipment Steward provides operational support for Education Department classes and events. The Conservatory Space and Equipment Steward will report to the Patel Conservatory Technical Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance with space and equipment for all classes and summer camps (fall, spring, and summer session classes; summer camps; and summer intensives).
  • Serves as liaison to resolve calendar conflicts and suggests solutions.
  • In coordination with Conservatory Production, maintains inventory of classroom supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with student escorting and pick up/drop off as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment as a dynamic and supportive team member.
  • Must be able to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be available to work nights and Saturdays.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use the telephone. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lift and move event materials or theatrical equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Work regularly requires walking, bending and climbing; approximately 50% of performance facility is reachable only by stairs or ladder.
  • Ability to identify visual and auditory difficulties occurring during events/productions.
  • Ascend and descend narrow ladders between floors backstage.
  • Some work may be completed in low light areas and/or areas of restricted access.
  • May operate electrical or sound equipment.
  • Position occasionally requires work in areas where hazardous materials (e.g. spray paint or cleansers) are present.
