Position Summary: Musical Theater Teacher FT is a practicing artist and educator who possesses strong musical theater skills and a commitment to working with children, teens, adults, and educators. This full-time teaching position teaches in all aspects of the Conservatory's programs, including, but not limited to, the community and pre-professional classes/camps of the school, partnership organizations, professional development workshops, and other special events and promotional events. This position also assists with program coordination, development, and assessment.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares lesson plans and teaches classes and workshops as required each session (teaching includes planning and implementation with Conservatory staff and direct instruction with students in pre-K through adult).
  • Oversees programming and implementation for specific theater education courses as assigned.
  • Communicates with teacher, parent, and student in theater education regarding growth and challenges.
  • Recruits and makes recommendations for adjunct faculty.
  • Conducts outreaches and residencies as scheduled.
  • Develops curriculum under the direction of the Department Managing Director and VP of Education.
  • Monitors adjunct theater faculty for quality assurance under the direction of the Department Managing Director and VP of Education and makes recommendations for growth.
  • Develops and presents professional development workshops for theater faculty/staff as requested.
  • Partners with the Community Programs Manager to provide appropriate staffing for theater and musical theater-specific outreaches and education programs.
  • Provides program/student assessments as required.
  • Submits theater course recommendations and program descriptions as requested to the Department Managing Director and VP of Education for review and approval.
  • Secures relationships with other organizations in the community to promote the Patel Conservatory through performances, classes, and workshops and arts education as a platform.
  • Acts as a marketing ambassador and serves as a community representative to speak on behalf of the Conservatory at community functions as requested.
  • Participates in all Open Classroom and Showcase events as requested.
  • Provides each student with an evaluation with specific feedback and recommended future course of study.
  • Mentors non-performance students in the theater apprentice program as required.
  • Provides operational support as needed including, but not limited to, production support and classroom set ups.
  • Other duties as assigned by Department Managing Director and VP of Education.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends and facilitates (when requested) mandatory teacher training and faculty meetings.
  • Provides registration support and coordination, including, but not limited to, in-bound and outbound calls as requested.
  • Provides administrative support as needed, including, but not limited to, clerical and general office work.
